ArchivalResource

Magnolia Springs research transcripts, 1997-1998.

The collection consists of transcripts of oral history interviews conducted by Dr. George A. Rogers and Susan Moody in 1997 and 1998. (The tapes are in the Special Collections oral history tape collection.) Those interviewed were Mrs. Lee Anderson, Dr. Charlton Moseley and Mrs. Willie Lee Moseley, James Rigdon, and Mary Lee Jones Tucker. Interviewees remembered Daniel Edgar ("Mr. Dan") Bland and his wife Catherine and their farm, Magnolia Springs. Both attended First District Agricultural and Mechanical School (Mr. Bland graduated in 1916). All of the land on which their farm thrived is now part of the University, the homestead itself now the University Botanical Gardens.
